The Useful Site is designed so that you can use its calculators without creating an account or submitting the figures as saved calculation records.
This policy explains the difference between calculator inputs and the limited technical or advertising information that may be processed when the website is used.
Who operates the site?
The Useful Site is independently operated by Daniel Parish. Privacy questions can be sent to suggest@theusefulsite.co.uk.
Calculator entries
Calculator logic normally runs in your browser. The figures you type into a calculator are used by that page to produce the result on your device.
I do not provide calculator accounts, saved histories or profiles built from those entries. Do not enter names, case details or other sensitive information into free-text fields unless a page clearly requires it—and most tools do not.
Server logs
Like most websites, the hosting platform may create technical logs when a page is requested. These can include an IP address, date and time, requested page, browser information and error details.
Logs are used for security, fault-finding and keeping the website available. They are not intended to create a personal calculator history.
Emails and suggestions
If you email the site or submit a suggestion, the information you provide is processed so the message can be read, considered and answered where appropriate.
Please do not send sensitive medical, financial, legal or forensic case information. A general description of the requested tool or reported problem is normally sufficient.
Advertising
The site carries Google AdSense advertising code. Where you agree to it, Google and its advertising partners may process device information, identifiers, IP addresses, browsing information and precise location data — to deliver, measure and protect advertising, to personalise advertising and content, and for audience research and service development. Google's partner list runs to roughly two hundred companies; the consent message names every one of them.

Consent management
For visitors in the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google requires publishers serving ads to use a Google-certified consent management platform where the requirement applies.
Where the consent message is shown, it names each purpose being asked for and the partners involved, and lets you accept, reject or manage them individually. Some partners rely on legitimate interest rather than consent for certain purposes, and you can object to that in the same message.
A Privacy and cookie settings link at the foot of every page reopens the message at any time, so a choice made once can be changed or withdrawn later.
Legal bases
Depending on the activity, information may be processed because it is necessary to operate and secure the website, because you asked me to respond to a message, because consent has been given, or because there is a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights.
How long information is kept
Calculator entries are not deliberately retained as saved records. Technical logs and correspondence are kept only for as long as reasonably needed for security, operation, troubleshooting or responding to the message, subject to the systems used by the hosting and email providers.
Sharing information
Information may be handled by service providers that support hosting, email, security, consent management and advertising. I do not sell calculator entries as personal profiles.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect the website and its users.
International processing
Some technology providers operate internationally. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, the provider is responsible for using an appropriate legal transfer mechanism where required.
Your rights
UK data-protection law may give you rights over personal data, including access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and complaint. The right that applies depends on the circumstances and the information held.

Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the site, service providers or legal requirements change. The review date at the top shows when the wording was last checked.
